About

e1evation is the nexus of my life.

For a lot of people, technology is a foreign language. By education, I am a foreign language teacher. During my lifetime I have studied German, French, Russian, Croatian, and a little Norwegian. I am fascinated by language and culture and the ability to communicate on a global basis. Today I am a technology Sherpa that teaches Google Apps, business blogging, Facebook, Twitter and other “foreign technology languages and cultures”…to help people make sense of it all.

When I learned the economic reality of having a teaching degree in German I decided to make a radical switch to selling as a career. My first job was with the international marketing department at Aetna Life & Casualty almost 30 years ago. During my career, I have also driven revenues for leading brands such as Watson Wyatt, Entex, CompuCom and Apple. In the early Y2K decade, I worked with four startups; two that did not succeed and two that did. You can view my LinkedIn profile here. For the past seven years, I work on e1evation, llc. where I help companies and individuals to use the web to drive revenues.

That means I bring 30 years experience in generating, managing, and closing leads to the work of social media. Author Chris Johnson says “Small businesses—accountants, lawyers, and brick-and-mortar shops—don’t need 5,000 Facebook fans, Diggs, or blogs that are updated daily. They need business. You know, clients, customers, shoppers, or whatever you want to call them.” Bottom line? Internet marketing and social media is not about ‘bright shiny objects’ or ‘technology for the sake of technology’ — I’m far too old for that! They can be cost-effective means to attracting and retaining business…

Ultimately, I think the single most important question about these tools is this: if I drink the Kool-Aid, how do I add these new activities to my overflowing plate and still get home for supper? Believe me, as a father of six, there are few things more important to me than getting home for supper! You may also be interested to know that I live in a 100-year-old farmhouse in rural Wisconsin and my primary connection to the Internet is a cellular modem. I use all of these tools and workflow to be effective. And I help others to know what works simply, fast, and best…

Here’s the proverbial bottom line; e1evation, llc is about better business development through technology. Whether you are a small business owner, a traditional marketer looking to move into the Internet space, or a thinker who aspires to thought leadership, I would like to come alongside you and be your guide for as long as you need. Please call or connect so we can discuss how this applies to you and your organization…
